NBA All-Star Weekend came to an end Sunday night with the 71st NBA All-Star Game, and Team LeBron got the win, 163-160. At the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Team LeBron had a superb exhibition as they went on fire in the talent showcase. LeBron himself led his team to victory and hit the game-winning shot to clinch the win, but it was the performance of Stephen Curry that had everyone buzzing.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry received the Kobe Bryant Trophy after being named MVP of the game. “This trophy has a very special meaning, honoring Kobe and Gigi, everybody that was lost two years ago,” Curry said after the game. “I’m very humbled, very blessed and I really appreciate it.”
Curry scored a game-high 50 points, falling just shy of the All-Star record of 52 set by Anthony Davis in 2017. Curry did set an All-Star record by making 16 three-point shots.
NBA fans were excited to LeBron James and Stephen Curry in one team. These two players, from Akron in Ohio, stole the show in Cleaveland. After the game, the Lakers forward lauded the Golden State Warriors point guard a lot.
“First of all, well, I mean, Steph, come on, man. This guy is from a different planet,” LeBron said after the game. “He literally has an automatic sniper connected to his arm, and when he lets it go, not only himself but everybody on the floor, in the stands, on TV, on their phones, whatever you are watching on, you think it’s going in every time. Nine times out of 10 and sometimes ten times out of 10, it does go in.
“To be out there and watch that kid from Akron as well shoot the ball the way he shot it, it was unbelievable. It was pretty cool.”
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James scored 24 points and hit the winning shot in the fourth quarter, with a jumper from the right side over Chicago Bulls swingman Zach LaVine.
“I couldn’t have dreamt it,” LeBron said. “I could not have dreamed of that moment any better than the actuality that just happened. For me to be back here, like I keep stating, 35 minutes south of where I grew up here in Akron, Ohio, to hit the game-winner in the All-Star Game where me and my guys back in the back, we used to watch the All-Star Game.”
Milwaukee Bucks centre Giannis Antetokounmpo added 30 points and 12 rebounds for Team LeBron.
Philadelphia 76ers centre Joel Embiid led Team Durant with 36 points, and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker added 20 points off the bench.
